I have been obsessed with IKEA since I got my first pillow there in junior high. They have incredible deals and steals, you just have to keep your eyes open! I’ve rounded up a few of my favorites that are making their way into my heart and shopping list!
one: These canvas boxes are the perfect way to stow away papers, magazines, and other items that don’t need to be on display. Get a grouping of 3 (odd numbers work better in design than even) boxes and put them in cubbies or aligned on a shelf to create a nice cohesive and clean look. It’s also an easy and inexpensive way to introduce color to a space! These are currently on sale for only $3.99!
two: I am so giddy over this find it’s crazy and it’s on sale for under $9! Technically, it’s a terracotta wine cooler that you can chill to keep wine cold, however, I’m loving it as a vase. It’s the perfect narrow-but-not-too-narrow shape and the geometric design adds a nice touch. A DIY might need to be in the works because I can envision so many possibilities… and it’s a steal!
three: This tray table is too good at mixing style with multi-purpose functionality. It’s just the right size to serve as an end table, and offers flexibility to be used as a tray/table combo. If you’re into entertaining, this would be a great option for easily transporting food/ drinks to-and-from the kitchen, and having a secure place for it to rest on. Also, the green color is right on trend with the Pantone color of the year!
four: IKEA is one of my favorite places for rugs, especially oversized ones. The pattern on this one is so timeless and simple that it would translate with any style and/or color. It’s handwoven and huge (6′-7″ X 9′-10″) which puts it at a really great value, and it reads as more expensive (score!). I’m currently in the process of re-doing a living room and this would make a great addition!
five: This sweet little number is sure to emphasize whatever you put in it! I love the simple the design, and how the notched base adds stability to the glass dome. This comes in two different sizes and would make a strong statement as a grouping running down the center of a dining table, or on display in a built-in or shelf. Have a special nick-nack that holds extra meaning? This would be a sweet way to display it while keeping it protected.
six: The new year often brings resolutions of tidying up, and wall shelving offers a great solution in utilizing vertical space. Oftentimes we tend to store things horizontally on our floors, in cased furniture, or in closets, and forget about all the vertical space. Wall shelves offer an inexpensive way to add additional storage over a desk, behind a sofa, or in an entry way. I love displaying groupings of accents, small books, a mirror, and plants because it helps break up a long/expansive wall and adds depth to a very flat surface! I’m in major need of more storage for my desk area, and this black and white two-toned shelf will do just the trick to add organization and interest!
seven: I have had my eye on this desk since moving back to Illinois. Throughout grad school I used my dining table because I needed a ton of space to spread out. Now, while I’m still using my dining table, I’d love to streamline down to this compact desk. The best part is that it’s under $40! The clean lines and glass prevent it from becoming too overpowering in the room, and it would be perfect for tight quarters. The little shelf would also be a great place to display some accents or a canvas box, seen above.
I hope you enjoyed seeing a glimpse into what on my current shopping list! Let me know if you enjoyed it, or would like to share a store to be featured next!
